1. The Servers’ Annual Retreat will be held on 18th to 20th March this year.
2. Be reminded about the slight change to the demerit point system starting this year.
3. All red packets received by altar servers or sacristans from wedding and funerals are to be submitted even if received from relatives.
4. Servers who need a new servers’ shirt, please come and see Joel, Shawn or Nicholas.
5. In an attempt to raise funds, Chinese New Year Cookie forms will be distributed. Please encourage your parents to support us. A Chinese New Year duty roster is on the notice board. Please submit the forms by This Sunday.
6. The canteen roster is out on the notice board; please check when your duty is. Servers are NOT EXEMPTED from catechism class.
7. After the 2nd bells, remember to watch the person doing 2nd bells for the cue to stand.
8. Starting from this weekend, there will be no more communion plate during all masses. The tallest server on reader side need not take the communion plates during the Lamb of God.
9. Be reminded that Servers’ canteen is Next week. Please wear the servers’ shirt. An ex-co member will call you and ask you what you will be contributing. An ex-co member will summarise the important announcements for the canteen next week.

Annoucements 3-4th Jan Feast of the Epiphany

1. The Servers’ Annual Retreat will be held on 18th to 20th March this year.
2.Servers, who did not come for the Christmas Gathering last week and haven’t received their gifts yet, are to look for Joel, Shawn or Nicholas.
3. Be reminded about the slight change to the demerit point system starting this year.
4.Also be reminded to the change in the weekend mass timings on Sunday. The 10.45am mass will be changed to 11am, and the 6pm mass on Sunday will be changed to 5.30pm. Therefore, Group 4 servers are to report to the sacristy at 10.30am, while Group 5 servers are to report to the sacristy at 5pm.
5. All red packets received by altar servers or sacristans from wedding and funerals are to be submitted even if received from relatives.
6. All servers are no longer required to serve their 2 weekdays Masses. However, servers are reminded to serve their usual 1 weekday mass.

5. Starting from next year, there will be a slight change to the demerit point system. The committee member will summarise the changes.
6. Starting from next year, there will be a change in the weekend mass timings on Sunday. The 10.45am mass will be changed to 11am, and the 6pm mass on Sunday will be changed to 5.30pm. Therefore, Group 4 servers are to report to the sacristy at 10.30am, while Group 5 servers are to report to the sacristy at 5pm.

3. Servers who do not want to risk having their handphones going off during mass, can place them in the blue basket in the servers’ cupboard. They can place their valuables in the blue basket also.
4. Thurifier and Boat bearer are to move up the altar immediately after bowing with the priest after processing to the altar.
5. The wedding roster for the month of December is out on the noticeboard, please check if you are serving. Servers, who are unable to serve, please inform Matthew Ch’ng as soon as possible.

Important Infomation For Christmas Gathering Gift Exchange

· The gift has to be a minimum value of $10.
· Wrap all gifts before submitting.
· It’s compulsory to write or paste the receiver’s name on the gift.
· Writing your name on the gift is optional.
· As you are buying a present for you fellow server, give a little thought and get him something besides Chocolates.
· The gift should be passed to Joel, Shawn or Nicholas by 14 Dec. Please pass it to them by that time, if not your fellow server may not have a gift. Do not be selfish.
· A committee member will inform you of who you have to buy the gift for.

Annoucements 22-23 November Feast of Christ the King

1. All Secondary and Primary servers are expected to start serving their 2 weekday masses.

2. Servers who are going away on holidays and are unable to serve their masses are to fill in the letter of excuse form before they leave. Drop the letter of excuse form in the transparent box.

3. The Triduum masses are counted as weekday mass. Take note that there will be no evening masses on those days. Servers whose names are not on the Triduum roster can still serve, but they are reminded to bring their cape and sash.

4. Servers are to meet in the basement chapel next Sunday on Feast Day, at 9am. Only appointed Group 3 servers are to serve the 9am mass on that day. Bring your cape and sash.

5. Facilitators are to be in the Good Shepherd room by 8.30am next Sunday. There is facilitators’ meeting this Sunday at 2pm.

6. Servers preparing the altar during weekday masses are reminded to take the ciborium out for it to be consecrated.

1. All Secondary school and Marist Stella Pri servers are expected start serving their 2 weekday masses.

3. Servers doing Thanksgiving during weekend masses, are to light the candles on the high table in the sacristy.

4. Servers doing 2nd bells are reminded to bow and ring at the same time together with the rest of the servers, and not bow after ringing the bell.

Annoucement 11-12th October 28th Sunday in Ordianry Time

1. During Thanksgiving, if Father pushes the chalice up when servers are pouring water into the chalice, that is the signal for you to stop pouring.

2. The Wedding roster and the Anointing of the Sick roster are on the cupboard, please check if you are serving. If you are unable to serve your rostered mass, please inform Matthew Ch’ng as soon as possible.

3. Servers are required to serve 2 weekday masses once the school holidays start. Servers are required to serve 1 weekday morning mass and 1 weekday evening mass. A list of those servers who only can serve 1 evening due to lack of transport or are living far away is on the cupboard.

Annoucement 4-5 October 27th Sunday in Ordinary Time

5. The Altar Servers’ Canteen last Sunday was a success, the Ex-Co would like to thank the servers and the parents who have helped out in the canteen one way or another.

1. All Altar Servers are to wear the Black Servers Polo T-Shirt on This Sunday.

2. All Altar Servers are exempted from Catechism Classes This Sunday, to help out in the canteen.

3. All servers are reminded to follow the canteen roster accordingly, and report to your respective committee member.

4. Nicholas Phang has step down as the Assistant Leader of Group 1, Matthew Phua will replace Nicholas Phang as the New Assistant Leader of Group 1.

5. There has been a change of the Heads of 2 sub-committee, Nicholas Lim will be the New Head of Group Leaders, and Raphael Ng will be the new Head of Facilitators.

6. For weekend masses, cross and torch bearers are to go into the sacristy at the start of the announcements to prepare for the procession at the end of mass. They are to bow together before going into the sacristy.

1. The Altar Servers’ Canteen will be held on Next Sunday, 28th of September 2008

2. The canteen roster is up on the notice boards. Please check the time of your duty and which committee member to report to.

3. All food contributions are to be brought by 7am on Canteen day.

4. All money contributions are to be passed to Joel, Nicholas or Shawn. Money will be collected up to the 27th of September only. Place all money contributions in a marked envelope. No money will be collected on Canteen day.

5. All Altar Servers are to wear the Black Servers Polo T-Shirt on Canteen Day.

Changes made to Weekday masses with effect from THIS WEEK
· When lighting the altar candles, servers are to take the fire from the lamp near the tabernacle.
· To minimise movement on the altar, servers only need to bow before they stand up or sit down if they need to move around the altar. Eg. When preparing the altar.
· From now onwards, only 2 servers are needed to do Offertory.
· P.A are required to lift up the chasubles of both Fr. Brian and Fr. John when they sit down.
· Gospel reading of that mass will be read out to the servers before mass.

Changes made to Weekend masses with effect from THIS WEEK
· When lighting the altar and side candles, servers are to take the fire from the lamp near the tabernacle.
· However, when lighting the processional torches before mass, just light it using a lighter or match.
· To minimise movement on the altar, servers only need to bow before they stand up or sit down if they need to move around the altar. Eg. When preparing the altar.

. Gospel reading of that mass will be read out to the servers before mass.

Annoucement 26 – 27 July, 17th Sunday in Ordinary Time

1. Unless told otherwise, all Altar Servers are to report to the Sacristy at least 15 mins before any Mass or Service begins to allow time for Spiritual Preparation.

2. If you are unable to serve your usual Weekend Mass time and intend to serve another Mass time, please inform the Group Leaders of both Masses.

3. If you are unable to serve Mass or attend Meetings at all due to a Valid Reason, please fill up the "Letter of Excuse".

Important Annoucements

1. The Investiture Mass on 27 July is compulsory for all servers to serve, servers who are unable to serve have to fill in the letter of excuse.

2. On Investiture day, servers are to report to the basement chapel by 9am.

3. Servers are to bring their cape and sash on Investiture Day. (Excludes New Servers)

4. Current Servers are to wear the black servers’ t-shirt on Investiture Day. (Excludes New Servers)

5. Only appointed Group 3 Servers are to serve the 9am Mass on Investiture Day. Groups 1, 2, & 5 are expected to serve their usual Mass times in addition to the Investiture Mass at 10.45am.

6. All Altar Servers are exempted from Catechism Classes on Investiture Day

7. The Investiture lunch is free, but there will be a love offering box placed at the back of the parish hall for your generous donation. This is to help defray the cost of the event.

Consent forms for the Annual Altar Servers' Investiture Mass and Lunch are available for download under the "Downloads" section. While the Lunch will be free of charge, a love offering box will be made available. Your generosity is much appreciated.

Please take note that there are two versions of the consent form, one for Servers being Invested this year, and one for all other Servers.

Presidential Farewell Letter

Dear Parents/ Altar Servers,

Farewell Letter

I am writing this letter to inform you that I will be officially relinquishing my position as President at this year’s Investiture which would be held on the 27th of July 2008.

Looking back at the time I first took on this position, I would have to say that the Society has been through many eventful moments. The last 4 ½ years has seen the Altar Servers’ Society grow in so many aspects. None of these would have been made possible without the endless guidance of God, the patience and guidance of Fr Gerard Weerakoon and all the Altar Servers not forgetting the cooperation and support of their parents. These are some aspects in which the Altar Servers’ Society has grown in:

1. Standard of Serving
2. The Servers have become so much more responsible
3. Their spirituality has improved by leaps and bounds
4. Number of servers continue to increase

I would therefore like to take this opportunity to thank the numerous Priests, Altar Servers and Parents for their support to the Society over the last 4 ½ years I have been President.

Please be informed that I will be handing over my responsibilities to Joel Moosa who will take over the Altar Servers’ Society as President beginning 27th July 2008. Nicholas Lim will continue as Vice President and he will guide Joel through the transitory period.

The transitory period will begin 16th June 2008 as I will be enlisting for National Service on that day and I seek your cooperation in supporting Joel Moosa and Nicholas Lim who will continue to lead the Altar Servers’ Society to greater heights.

I will still continue to attend the Executive Committee meetings as and when possible but I will be assuming an advisory role. I will also continue serving at Masses if time permits.

My prayers will always be with all of you and I will miss all of you dearly. Continue to Serve God passionately and faithfully, remember to pray every day and always remember that Serving requires lots of sacrifice.

1. Due to the upcoming exams, demerit points will not be issued to servers who did not serve their weekday mass this week. However, demerit points will still be issued to servers who did not serve their Ascension Day mass.
2. This is a final reminder for servers who have not done their cassock exchange, to get their cassocks by this week.
3. There is no Altar Servers’ meeting Next Sunday due to Mothers’ Day.
4. Servers who still have not handed in the Retreat and Parents’ Briefing consent must hand it up by this week.

The above event aims at promoting fellowship and bonding between Altar Servers of different churches. It is hoped that through this event Altar Servers from other churches will get to know each other better.

1. Please hand in the Letter of Appeal by 13 April, Next Sunday, regardless or not you can serve Group 5. Servers who do not hand in the form will get 2 demerit points. Group Leaders and Group 5 servers are to read and do not need to take the letter.
2. If you cannot serve your weekday mass for some valid reason, call or sms Nicholas Lim instead, as he is doing the demerit points every week.
3. Shawn Wong will be away on holiday from 19th April to 3rd May.
4. The Obstacle Training Course will be postponed due to upcoming events like the Investiture and the Retreat.

URGENT APPEAL

Dear Parents and Servers,

URGENT APPEAL FOR SERVERS TO SERVE SUNDAY 6PM MASS

We only have 6 Altar Servers at the Sunday 6pm Mass (Group 5) as of now and we are appealing for more Altar Servers to join Group 5.

We seek your cooperation in allowing your sons to serve at the Sunday 6pm Mass if it is convenient or if they are available either for an indefinite period of time or at least for the next 4 months up till July when investiture is over.

The other alternative the Altar Servers’ Society has, is to get all Altar Servers to serve at the Sunday 6pm Mass on a rotational basis in accordance to a roster similar to the Novena Rosters. However, please be assured that this measure will only be implemented if the appeal for more Altar Servers is unsuccessful.
