27^th – 28^th Jul 2012, Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time Announcements

1.     Administration (Rosters and Special Events)

a.     Special events roster for Jul has been published.  All are responsible to check. 

b.     Group 5 servers will be serving the Novena service next Sat, 3^rd Aug.

2.     Sharing

a.     Friday night sharing for servers secondary 1 and above is on Fri, 2^th Aug at 830pm.

3.     Investiture and Canteen Forms (HIGH IMPORTANCE)

a.     The Investiture for new Altar Servers and Society Dinner is on the evening of Sat, 17^th Aug while the Canteen is on Sun, 1^st Sep.  A full society mass will be held.  Please check the roster to see if you are serving on the sanctuary and note the training dates. 

b.     The investiture and canteen are important events which require the work of the Executive Committee.  However, it would not succeed without the cooperation of ALL SERVERS to submit the forms BEFORE LEAVING CHURCH THIS WEEKEND (Sun, 28^th Aug, 530pm).  For servers below 21 years old, the forms should only be signed by a parent or guardian. 

c.     Please note that each late submission puts extra stress and unnecessary work on others and servers are urged to be considerate and respectful. 

d.     Servers are to collect a copy of the form before leaving the sacristy after mass.  Group Leaders are responsible to ensure.  

4.     Proclaim 2013 

a.     There will be a Youth Conference held at the CAYC from the 8th to 10th August 2013.  The fees will be subsidised (60%) by the society fund and participants will only be required to pay $40.  More information can be found at the CAYC website, at cayconline.org.

b.     The following servers are by default registered as those unable to attend have already informed Raphael Ng.  If a server has been included here by mistake, he is to inform Raphael by Sun, 28^th Jul, 7pm, to clarify with his reason.

Announcements 13th – 14th Jul 2012, Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

 

1.     Administration (Rosters and Special Events)

a.     Special events roster for Jul has been published.  All are responsible to check. 

b.     Group 3 servers will be serving the Novena service next Sat, 20^th Jul.

2.     Sharing

a.     No Friday night sharing for servers secondary 1 and above this Fri, 19^th Jul due to meeting for new Exco members.

3.     Retreat for priests (HIGH IMPORTANCE)

a.     The diocesan priests will have its annual retreat from Mon, 15^th Jul to

Fri, 19^th Jul.  We pray that they will be enriched spiritually and fruitfully at this retreat. During the period of retreat there will be no morning and evening mass.

b.     However Communion Service will be conducted at 6.30 am and 6.30 pm respectively for these five days and there IS morning mass on Sat 20^th Jul.  Sacristans to set up as per normal.

c.     Servers are still required to attend at least one communion service or alternatively, serve mass on Saturday morning.  Spiritual preparation 30 minutes before service and attendance taking are to carry on as per normal.  Cassock is not required.  All Exco members and Group Leaders to ensure and comply.

5.     Archbishop’s Cup

a.     The Society wishes to thank all players for their efforts in the Archbishop’s Cup.  Congratulations to the U-13 team that have won the champions trophy.

b.     Players are to return their WASHED jerseys/vests, FOLDED NEATLY, to the SERVERS’ CUPBOARD IN 3 THE SEPARATE STACKS according to colour by Sun, 14^th Jul.

c.     Players who have not collected their baptism certificate are to do so as soon as possible from Nicholas Lim or Justin Yeo.

1.     Administration (Rosters and Special Events)

a.     Special events roster for Jul has been published.  All are responsible to check. 

b.     Group 2 servers will be serving the Novena service next Sat, 13^th Jul.

2.     Sharing

a.     Friday night sharing for servers secondary 1 and above will be at 830pm this Fri, 12^th Jul.

3.     Vestments

a.     Cinctures are NOT to be worn at hip level (where the hip bone is) or lower but always at the waist, where the position of the umbilicus (also known as the navel or belly button) can be used as a gauge because

                                               i.     The proper location for a cincture is at the tummy area as one is supposed to feel oneself being restrained (girded) which symbolizes

1.     Being tied to God

2.     Obedience and submission to God

3.     Readiness to do battle against sin

                                             ii.     The cassock also tends to be pushed up and crumple when the cincture is worn low at the hip.

                                            iii.     The vesting prayers related to this is as follows: "Gird me O Lord and make me pure, quench in my heart the fire of desire, that the virtue of obedience and chastity may abide in me"
