Announcements 31st Aug – 1st Sep 2013, Twenty SecondSunday in Ordinary Time

 

1.
Administration (Rosters and Special Events)
b.
Special events roster for SEPTEMBER has been published.  All are responsible to check.  
c.
Group 5 servers will be serving the Novena servicenext Sat, 7th Sep.

 

2.
Sharing
a.
Weekly Friday night sharing for servers secondary 1and above  is on this Fri, 6th Sep at 830pm.

 

3.
Contact List
a.
The Society needs to verify the particulars in the contact list.  
b.
A copy of the latest version of the contact list is yet to be published but has been put up beside the sink.  Servers are to ensure that they check their particulars before leaving the sacristy after mass.
c.
If there is no error, servers to indicate “NIL”.  However, if there are changes to be made, please write them neatly in pen, in the blank sheet on the right.  
d.
Group Leaders to assist in this exercise.

 

4.
Changes to serving of mass
a.
The following pointers are to be taught to servers by Group Leaders before mass.  Exco present to supervise.
b.
These pointers apply to all masses celebrated by Fr. Gerard Weerakoon and Fr. Brian D’ Souza.
i.
PA to lift up the celebrant’s chasuble before he sits.
ii.
Servers are to bow slowly and reverently.
c.
At present, these pointers will apply only to masses celebrated by Fr. Gerard Weerakoon.
i.
When setting up, the Roman Missal is to be placed on the left half of the corporal and slanted 45 degrees to the left.
ii.
On weekday masses only
1.
The Roman Missal and Microphone are to be left on the Altar after communion.  The Roman Missal however, is to be shifted just off the left side of the corporal.
2.
During cleansing, Fr.’s fingers will be placed on the top of the chalice so that any fragments of consecrated host can be washed in the chalice. Pour slowly onto his fingers into the chalice.

 

iii.
On weekend masses only
1.
If there is communion to be brought to the sick, the PA on Father’s Side, upon hearing that Fr. will be giving the blessing to the communion minister, will stand,leave his seat and genuflect before thepyx.  The PA will wait for Fr. without getting in between Fr. and the communion minister during the blessing.  After the blessing, the PA will extend the tray to Fr. and return the tray to the credence table.

 

5.
 Group Leader duties
a.
Group Leaders to issue the capes and sashes from vestments cupboard to the newly invested servers.  They are to ensure that the vestments are not damaged and are of the appropriate size.  They are to notify Matthew Kwan after this has been done.

12 servers did not turn up for Investiture Mass.  So far, only 3 have submitted their reasons.  Group Leaders are to do another check this weekend and record the reasons of those who did not turn up.  Submit the names and reasons to Matthew Kwan after mass.  

 

6.
  Circular to parents
a.
A circular addressed to all parents of servers has been published.  There are still many copies left. All servers are to take home a copy and return the acknowledgement slip to on the last page via the transparent box by Sun, 8th Sep.

Announcements 24th – 25th Aug 2013, Twenty First Sunday in Ordinary Time




1. Administration (Rosters and Special Events)
a. Special events roster for Aug has been published. All are responsible to check.
b. Group 4 servers will be serving the Novena service next Sat, 31st Aug.

2. Sharing
a. Weekly Friday night sharing for servers secondary 1 and above is on this Fri, 30th Aug at 830pm.

3. Spiritual Director
a. Fr. Brian D’ Souza will be the Society’s Spiritual Director following the departure of Fr. John Bosco. Liturgical Matters will be handled by Fr. Gerard Weerakoon.

4. Contact List
a. The Society needs to verify the particulars in the contact list.
b. A copy of the latest version of the contact list is yet to be published but has been put up beside the sink. Servers are to ensure that they check their particulars before leaving the sacristy after mass.
c. If there is no error, servers to indicate “NIL”. However, if there are changes to be made, please write them neatly in pen, above the correction to be made. Strike out the information that wrong or no longer valid.
d. Group Leaders to assist in this exercise.
e. The 8 new servers will be issued a temporary contact list this weekend. The whole society will receive the most updated version once all have verified their particulars.

5. Canteen (HIGH IMPORTANCE)
a. The Altar Servers Canteen is on next Sun, 1st Sep.
b. Servers are to deliver their food contribution to the canteen on the day itself by 7am.
c. For cash contributions, servers are to enclose the cash in an envelope, write their name and amount contributed on it and drop it into the transparent box in the sacristy.
d. Be in servers T-shirt.
e. Canteen rosters have been published. All are expected to adhere strictly to the rosters, report punctually and leave only when their allocated time is up. This is to prevent overcrowding or manpower shortage during each slot.
f. Perform a swap and notify an Exco member if you cannot make it for your time slot. Servers are not exempted from their normal mass duties or catechism class. Inform Gerard Nagulendran immediately if there are any problems with the roster.

6. Investiture administration
a. The newly invested servers will be posted to the mass groups as such:

4. Group 5- Joseph Low, Alphonsus Phoon
ii. New servers are reminded to be punctual for weekend masses, half an hour before the mass time for spiritual preparation.
iii. Attendance IC (David de Souza) is to key in these names into new attendance sheets for September. For this weekend, the names will be handwritten by Group Leaders at the bottom of each attendance sheet.
b. Head of Administration I (Sean Chan) to arrange for the fitting and issuing of capes and sashes for all new servers by Sun, 8 Sep.

Announcements 17th – 18th Aug 2013, Nineteen Sunday in Ordinary Time




1. Administration (Rosters and Special Events)
a. Special events roster for Aug has been published. All are responsible to check.
b. Group 3 servers will be serving the Novena service next Sat, 24th Aug.
c. Latest contact list is out. All to obtain a copy. Servers should not give the excuse that they do not have the contacts of their fellow servers.
d. A circular addressed to all parents of servers has been published. Please take home a copy and return the acknowledgement slip to on the last page via the transparent box by Sun, 8th Sep.
e. Ian Quek will be the Group 3 Leader with immediate effect, alongside Zachery Chan.

2. Sharing

a. Friday night sharing for servers secondary 1 and above resumes this Fri, 23rd Aug at 830pm.

3. Canteen (HIGH IMPORTANCE)

a. The Altar Servers Canteen is on Sun, 1st Sep.
b. Servers are to deliver their food contribution to the canteen on the day itself by 7am.

ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR 19TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

 2. Sharing a. There is Friday night sharing for servers secondary 1 and above on Fri, 16th Aug. 3. Investiture and Canteen Forms (HIGH IMPORTANCE)
a. The Investiture for new Altar Servers and Society Dinner is on the evening of Sat, 17th Aug while the Canteen is on Sun, 1st Sep. A full society mass will be held. Please check the roster to see if you are serving on the sanctuary. Training HAS BEEN POSTPONED to Sun, 11th Aug from 2pm to 4pm.
 b. ALL SERVERS should have already submitted the forms. 4. Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary a. Masses are on Wed, 14th Aug and Thu, 15th Aug. Rosters are published on the noticeboard and blog.
 c. Servers who need to request for a change in mass time, please perform an early swap with another server and approach an Exco Member to inform them of the change. Exco Members are not responsible to find swaps for servers. Duty Sacristans can only swap with trained sacristans and Duty Leaders with a Group Leader or Exco Member.
d. Servers who are unable to serve any mass are to fill in and submit the letter of excuse.
 e. Masses are not counted as a weekday mass. The Feast is a Holy Day of Obligation.
 f. Servers who need a letter of exemption from school are to approach Zachary Clunies Ross with their school name, principal name, class and index number by Sat, 10th Aug. Last requests will not be entertained.
 g. Capes and sashes are required. Please be in the sacristy 30 minutes before mass.

Announcements 3rd – 4th Aug 2013, Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time



1. Administration (Rosters and Special Events)
a. Special events roster for Aug has been published. All are responsible to check.
b. Group 1 servers will be serving the Novena service next Sat, 10th Aug.
c. In view of Hari Raya and National Day, weekday masses on Thu and Fri, 8th and 9th Aug respectively, are only at 830am. There are no evening masses on these days. Sacristans for these evening masses are to open church latest by 745am.

2. Sharing
a. No Friday night sharing for servers secondary 1 and above is on Fri, 9th Aug as it is National Day.

3. Investiture and Canteen Forms (HIGH IMPORTANCE)
a. The Investiture for new Altar Servers and Society Dinner is on the evening of Sat, 17th Aug while the Canteen is on Sun, 1st Sep. A full society mass will be held. Please check the roster to see if you are serving on the sanctuary. Training HAS BEEN POSTPONED to Sun, 11th Aug from 2pm to 4pm.
b. The investiture and canteen are important events which require the work of the Executive Committee. ALL SERVERS should have already submitted the forms last weekend. Please note that each late submission puts extra stress and unnecessary work on others and servers are urged to be considerate and respectful.
c. Group Leaders are to retain servers who have not handed in the form after debrief so as to ensure that their forms are submitted before they leave church. This is to prevent further delay to the planning.

4. Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
a. Masses are on Wed, 14th Aug and Thu, 15th Aug. Rosters are published on the noticeboard and blog.
