nnouncements 1st Feb – 2nd Jan 2014, Feast of the Presentation of the Lord

Note: All servers are responsible to check and note these announcements.  As announcements are put on the blog, there should not be any reason for servers not to check even when they are not present over the weekend, unless they are unable to obtain an internet connection when overseas.  Group Leaders are not to skip the reading of any announcement and should elaborate where necessary.  

 

 

1.
Administration (Rosters and Special Events)
b.
Special events roster for FEBRUARY has beenupdated.  All to check.  Servers to note that they will NOT BE CALLED BY THE SPECIAL EVENTS IC in future.  The Group Leader will announce the names on the roster as a reminder during debrief (attached behind).  After announcing, the Group Leader is to tick the name of the server on the attached roster.  The Group 5 leader is to inform the Special Events IC immediately if by the last Sunday evening of the month, there are names which are not yet ticked.  The Special Events IC will then make the necessary phone calls.  The attached roster is NOT TO BE DISCARDED BUT ATTACHED TO EACH WEEKEND’S ANNOUNCEMENTS until replaced by the roster for the following month.
c.
It is still the primary responsibility of the server to still check the noticeboard and find a replacement if he is unable to serve.  
d.
Group 2 servers will be serving the Novena servicenext Sat, 8th Feb.

Sharing
a.
Sharing for servers secondary 1 and above will be held this Fri, 7th Feb.

 

3.
Training
a.
2 bookmarks have been placed in the Sunday Missals on the Sanctuary, 1 marking the readings for each Sunday and one marking the General Intercessions.
b.
Servers are not to remove these bookmarks.
c.
When using the missals during mass, servers are to slot the bookmarks in the other pages in such a way that it does not drop, fly around and cause a distraction.  When they close the Missals, the bookmark should be returned to the correct page.

Special Events Roster For February

Announcements 18th Jan – 19th Jan 2014, Third Sunday after Epiphany

Servers are reminded to mark their own attendance for weekday mass and submit a letter of excuse if they are unable to fulfil their weekday and/or weekend duty and/or novena service.

Any server who has to serve a mass outside his usual weekend mass must inform their own Group Leader and the Group Leader of the mass they switch to and also PROVIDE A VALID REASON. Leaders may reject the switch if they feel that the reason provided is not valid.

3.
Chinese New Year
a.
Mass rosters for Chinese New Year (Fri, 31 Jan, 830am and 1030am) have been published.  All to check.  These count as weekday masses.  Servers to bring their cape and sash.
b.
There will be no roster for Chinese New Year Eve (Thu, 30 Jan, 630am) and 2nd day of Chinese New Year (Sat, 1 Feb, 830am).  These masses will be treated as normal weekday masses.
c.
There is NO 630pm evening mass on Chinese New Year Eve (Thu, 30 Jan)

Sale of Chinese New Year Cookies
a.
2 more weekends of sales will be held till Sun, 19thJan.
b.
Rosters have been posted up.  As there few servers per shift, servers are responsible to find a replacement and swap if they are unable to turn up for their duty.  A valid reason should be given and an Exco member informed. Servers are expected to be punctual for their duties and are only to leave when dismissed by their ICs. Servers to wear their servers T-shirt and report directly to the church porch.  
c.
ICs that are assigned are Exco members and Group Leaders and most will be on duty more than once.  They are to swap amongst themselves only, if they are unable to turn up for their duty.
d.
The following servers have failed to turn up for duty without providing a valid reason and are to turn up for make-up duty according to where their names have been re-written on the roster.  Failure to turn up for make-up duty will cause one’s name tobe recorded for further action.

Cassock Exchange
a.
If a server has not received a cassock of an appropriate size yet, he is to contact Sean Chan immediately.  Group Leaders have the discretion to disallow servers from serving mass from Sat, 18thJan onward if their cassocks are ill-fitting and if they have not reported the matter to Sean Chan.

Announcements 4th Jan – 5th Jan 2014, Solemnity of the Epiphany of The Lord



1.     Administration (Rosters and Special Events)
a.     Special events roster for January has been updated.  All to check.  Servers to note that they will only be CALLED ONCE BY THE SPECIAL EVENTS IC in future, when they are placed on the roster towards the end of the month.  Special Events IC will NO LONGER provide any additional reminders just before the date of the special event as servers are responsible to check and note the schedule.
b.     Group 3 servers will be serving the Novena service next Sat, 11th Jan.
c.     Benedict Koh will be taking a leave of absence for the year 2014 due to personal reasons.  Nigel Chew has been appointed acting Vice President in his place until a new permanent Vice President has been elected.
d.     Dominic Lim will be continuing his studies in New Zealand from Feb 2014 onwards.  Do keep him in prayer.
e.     The following servers have retired as of January 2014.  Do keep them in prayer.

a.     All Group Leaders to re-teach the method and meaning of the sign of the cross according to the poster next to the sanctuary door (reader’s side).

c.     The server assigned for thanksgiving is to wait for the priest to restore the Blessed Sacrament to the tabernacle before coming out to wait on the priest.  Hence, he will not obstruct the priest.


5.     Christmas Gift Exchange
a.     Last call for any servers who did not find their gifts in the transparent boxes or have received an extra gift.  These servers are to notify Sean Chan immediately after debrief.  Only these servers have reported missing presents.

6.     Cassock Exchange

b.     Servers are reminded not to leave their cassock in the sacristy for more than 12 hours.  All special concessions will expire with immediate effect.
